Step 3: Selecting Your Real Estate Professionals
In some states, before you search for a real estate professional, you should first look for a real estate attorney. In some states attorneys are legally required to be part of the purchase and sales process involving a home. For example, in New York an attorney acting on behalf of the buyer prepares the actual offer to purchase a home. An attorney also represents the sellers and all negotiations by the parties take place between their attorneys. To find out whether you need to retain an attorney first, contact the local branch office of a major home loan lender near you and ask one of their home loan consultants whether an attorney is required to be part of the home purchase process.

onsider a Real Estate Attorney
Regardless of where you live, you may want to seek the guidance of a real estate attorney, especially if you have any concerns about legal issues.
Questions to Ask a Real Estate Agent
After you select your real estate attorney (if needed) the next step is to choose your real estate professional. All persons who assist others in the sale, purchase or rental of real estate and who receive a fee for their service must be licensed by their particular state. The following are some suggested questions that you should ask before selecting a real estate agent to assist you in finding a home of your choice.
Who will you represent in this real estate transaction?
What fee do you charge for your service?
How will you be paid?
How will I be able to contact you?
What services will you provide to me?
