Tips
Tools for Managing Your Money edge
(adapted from FDIC)
Budget Box System
The Budget Box System is a filing tool that you can use at home to help you manage your money. The budget box is a small box with dividers for each day of the month. As you receive your bills, check the due dates and place them behind the cards that represent the days they are due. As you receive income, pay all the bills that are due.

Computer System
You can also manage your money by using simple computer programs. If you have access to a personal computer, you can create your own spending plan spreadsheet or you can obtain a personal finance program. There are free downloadable programs that you can use; other programs are available for purchase. Using a computer to manage your finances is quick and relatively easy. Once you have the system set up, updating your information only takes a few minutes. But remember, it’s important to enter information frequently to truly understand your financial position.
